Unlock your creativity this summer with an Oxford Art Safari course

City of Oxford College invites art enthusiasts of all ages to embark on a creative journey with the Oxford Art Safari, running from July 22 to 26 2024. 

Delve into a world of artistic exploration at this weeklong event offering an array of arts and crafts workshops designed to ignite imagination and hone creative skills.  

From seasoned professionals to beginners, there’s something for everyone with a selection of half-day and full-day courses. 

Oxford Art Safari – a week of artistic workshops

Adult learners, aged 19 and over, can choose from an exciting line up, including: 

• Watercolour painting – Immerse yourself in the expressive potential of watercolours and unlock your creative prowess. 
• Create your own paper zine – Combine origami and mark making for a journey of creativity and self-expression. 
• An introduction to hand-stitching patchwork (English paper piecing) – Unlock the secrets of this age-old craft and create something truly special. 
• Reductive woodcut relief printmaking – Delve into the techniques of reductive woodcuts and create unique prints that reflect your style. 
• Make your first quilt – Embark on a journey into the world of quilting and explore new avenues of creativity. 
• Raku – Experience the magic of Raku pottery with its highly experimental process and unpredictable results. 
• Wheel throwing – Discover wheel throwing techniques and an opportunity to delve into pottery.
• Make a milking stool in a day – Enjoy a unique day of crafting and bring home your own milk stool.
• Sun printing – Capture images and designs using sunlight and explore sun printing techniques.
• Intuitive art methods to promote and maintain your wellbeing – Promote and maintain wellbeing utilising creative tools to enhance your mental health.
• Drypoint Intaglio printmaking – Step into the fascinating world of Intaglio, unlocking endless possibilities for artistic expression.
• Jewellery and silversmithing – Learn the basic techniques and create a unique piece of jewellery.
• Ring in a day – Learn how to cut, shape, solder, file, and polish silver, and you’ll be able to wear your finished piece home!
• Experimental life drawing – an opportunity to draw from a live nude model. Unleash your inner Picasso or Leonardo!

Art and crafts courses for children in Oxford 

Activate Learning will also offer the Art Safari for Juniors workshop, exclusively for 7-to11-year-olds, where young minds can unleash their creativity and imagination.
