Community Learning – Basket & Container Planting

Course overview

This course will involve using seasonal plants in a variety of interesting and varied styles and is aimed at those with a keen interest and love of flowers and gardening. 

Please note: this course runs from 10am to 2pm.

This is one of our Community Learning courses.

Our Community Learning programme offers a series of free, government-funded courses to develop skills, knowledge, confidence and improve mental well-being for adults.

Participation can help those managing mental health conditions that have a mild-moderate impact on their day-to-day lives. You need to be aged 19 or over (at the start of the course) AND:

•employed and earning an annual salary of less than £20,319 or
•unemployed, in receipt of state benefit and looking for work
•have a social or emotional difficulty, or challenges with mental health or emotional wellbeing

At this creative, hands-on workshop we will give you all the support whilst you learn, with helpful tips from our horticulture expert, as well as all the materials you need to brighten up your garden with an array of colourful planting.

You will learn via a combination of formal instruction, step-by-step practical demonstrations and group discussions.

Please wear suitable clothing for gardening which you don’t mind getting dirty and wear sturdy footwear.

All materials including plants will be provided.

Activate Learning offers a range of Horticulture courses, at all levels, throughout the year.

Catering facilities are not always open at the College. Please feel free bring your own snacks and drinks.

There is ample free parking on site.
