Community Learning – Practical Gardening
Course overview
This course has been designed as a gentle, introduction to key gardening principles, with lots of practical ideas you can use in your garden day-to-day.
If you love the outdoors and have a passion for gardening, whether you are new to gardening or have an obsession with plants, then this is the course for you.
This is one of our Community Learning courses.
Our Community Learning programme offers a series of free, government-funded courses to develop skills, knowledge, confidence and improve mental well-being for adults.
Participation can help those managing mental health conditions that have a mild-moderate impact on their day-to-day lives. You need to be aged 19 or over (at the start of the course) AND:
•employed and earning an annual salary of less than £20,319 or
•unemployed, in receipt of state benefit and looking for work
•have a social or emotional difficulty, or challenges with mental health or emotional wellbeing

At this creative, hands-on workshop we will give you all the support whilst you learn, with helpful tips from our horticulture expert.
You will learn via a combination of formal instruction, step-by-step practical demonstrations and group discussions.
Please wear suitable clothing for gardening which you don’t mind getting dirty and wear sturdy footwear. Also please bring a pair of gardening gloves.
All materials will be provided.
Activate Learning offers a range of Horticulture courses, at all levels, throughout the year.
Catering facilities are not always open at the College. Please feel free bring your own snacks and drinks.
