I teach German.
How many years have you been teaching?
I have been working part-time as a German lecturer for over 20 years, first starting with Bracknell and Wokingham College and now continuing with Activate Learning. I have also been lecturing for companies and privately for many years.
What do you enjoy about teaching adults?
The interaction with adult learners of a wide age range, and the different nationalities and personalities bring me huge joy in my career.
What got you into teaching German?
Growing up in Switzerland exposed me to learning several foreign languages as Switzerland, a country as tiny as it is, has four national languages. Very quickly I developed a love for languages and pursued my schooling in that direction.
When I came to England permanently, I was keen to develop a career in teaching German. Therefore I undertook a teacher training course, which opened doors for me to use my language skills in the adult further education sector. Not only would I be able to convey the language, but also enrich my learners with my cultural heritage that I brought with me.
Why should someone join your classes?
Learning a new language enables you to meet new people and develop friendships, discover a new culture, become more open-minded, improves employability, transforms your travel experience, increases your brain power and develops confidence.
