Introduction to Printmaking
Course overview
Discover the basics of printmaking while creating beautiful, unique designs and images.
In this three-hour printing workshop, you’ll explore a range of printmaking techniques guided by our expert tutor, Hector Garay.
You’ll try monotype printing using stencils, masks, and layering, as well as relief printing with mixed media and textured backgrounds. The session encourages experimentation, helping you build confidence using presses and equipment while discovering your own creative approaches and unique artistic outcomes.
Everyone is welcome, with or without prior printmaking experience.
You’ll share your work with the group, discussing ideas and technical approaches in a supportive, friendly environment. Working alongside others encourages observation and inspiration, helping you develop your own ideas. Once inducted, you can follow the session structure or work more independently – depending on your level and experience.
Everyone is welcome, with or without prior printmaking experience.
Printmaking can be messy, so it’s advisable to wear old clothes. High heels and sandals are not permitted in the studio – please wear low, closed-toe footwear.
