Woodwork: Make a Windowsill Herb Planter

Course overview

A great project to introduce yourself to the world of DIY woodworking or improve your existing woodworking skills.

In this 6-week course, you will use traditional hand tool techniques to create an attractive and useful windowsill herb planter. A country-house classic, this attractive window box is a great addition to any kitchen or other interior windowsill, perfect for growing herbs, chillis, or tomatoes.

In a relaxed, fun and supportive learning environment, you will master a range of traditional DIY techniques, including accurately marking and sawing, chiselling, drilling and using metal fastenings, such as screws.

The course is led by experienced, qualified tutor, Oliver Scott, and is held in the fully-equipped workshops of the renowned Rycotewood Furniture Centre. Places are limited to a maximum of twelve learners, and all materials and equipment are provided.

Quiet and methodical by nature, hand-tool woodworking can be a very mindful activity, and we hope that you will find this course relaxing, fun, and informative. At the end of the course, you will take home the tote that you have made and will hopefully have the skills and confidence to pursue further woodworking projects and/or attend another of our classes.
