Jewellery: Cold Connections and Colour on Metal
Course overview
Discover the art of jewellery-making with this hands-on course that blends traditional techniques with vibrant creativity! Over 12 weeks, you’ll explore cold connections, Prisma Colour applications, and metalworking skills to create stunning, wearable pieces.
Whether you’re a beginner or looking to expand your skills, this course offers expert guidance, creative freedom, and the chance to design jewellery that’s truly your own.
You will be guided by expert tutor Tessa Milne.
Please note: this course does not run during the half-term/end-of-term breaks.
From the very first session, you’ll learn to work safely in our well-equipped 3d workshop, master essential tools, and experiment with colour and texture. Each week introduces exciting processes:
Weeks 1-4: Cold connections and colour techniques
Weeks 5-8: Aluminium forming and design, including riveting, doming, and optional bead embellishments.
Weeks 9-11: Resin inlay and bezel-making for unique, polished jewellery pieces.
Week 12: A celebratory ‘Show and Tell’
You will learn by practising the processes on an individual basis at your own pace, and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills to meet your specific needs.
Teaching methods include:
- formal instruction
- discussion
- individual tuition
- practical demonstration
- practical experience
There is no formal assessment, but your progress is monitored to encourage personal development and progression.
Some experience in jewellery and metals would be useful, but not essential, as you work at your own pace and level.
Please bring along your ideas and favourite colours to class.
Please wear flat shoes—no open-toe or high-heeled shoes—as they can be a hazard in the workshop.
Please check out our other Learning for Leisure jewellery courses and continue your creative journey!
