If you have a keen interest in gardening and would like to learn some new horticultural skills whilst getting active and meeting new people, then you might enjoy being part of the Gardening Group at Merrist Wood College, set in the beautiful Surrey countryside.

Join a community of like-minded people who enjoy working outdoors and looking after the environment.

This is one of our Community Wellbeing courses.

Our Community Wellbeing programme offers a series of FREE, government-funded courses to develop skills, knowledge, confidence and improve mental wellbeing for adults. Participation can help those managing mental health conditions that have a mild-moderate impact on their day-to-day lives.

You need to be aged 19 or over (at the start of the course) AND:

  • employed and earning an annual salary of less than £25,000 or
  • unemployed, in receipt of state benefits and looking for work
  • have a social or emotional difficulty or challenges with mental health or emotional wellbeing
* If you earn above the £25K threshold, courses will be charged at £5 per hour.

You will learn how to create and maintain gardens for pleasure, relaxation and wildlife.

You will need an interest in gardening and working outdoors.

All participants will need to provide their own appropriate outdoor clothing, protective footwear and gardening gloves.
