Course overview

Join us for one of the only vet-taught dog first aid courses in the
UK, hosted by Sophie Bell – veterinary surgeon, dog groomer, author and
teacher.


We never know when our animals may become ill or injured, and knowing what we
can do to help or prevent it is crucial.


With her many years of experience as a front-line vet, Dr Sophie will relay
not just emergency techniques but also preventive measures to help you avoid
accidents or illness in your dog.


Who is this course for?


This one-day first aid course is aimed at all dog owners and pet
professionals.


Canine First Aid classroom courses are ideal for people who like the
interaction of a group setting and an opportunity to ask questions.


 

This first-aid course focuses mostly on dogs but also covers some important
facts about cat first aid and other small animals.


Covering lots of topic areas including: shock, CPR,
practical bandaging, bleeding, drowning/choking, Alabama Rot, toxins, clinical
examination, TPR (temp/pulse/respiration), mucus membrane colour and what it
means, signs of pain, road traffic accidents, bites and stings, pyometra,
gastric dilation volvulus, seizures, diabetes, ear and eye problems,
hypo/hyperthermia, wound management, kennel cough, vomiting and diarrhoea, paw
and nail problems. It also covers holistic and medical treatment
options.

First aid classroom courses are great for people who like the interaction of
a group setting. You will get to do some hands-on practicals such as CPR and
bandaging, and you can also ask Dr Sophie plenty of questions!


Training is written and delivered by veterinary surgeon Dr Sophie Bell with
her many years of experience working as a front-line vet. With Dr Sophie, you
can learn not just emergency techniques but also preventative measures to help
you try to avoid accidents or illness with your dog.
