Bricklayer Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
Course overview
Bricklayers lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures eg chimney stacks. They might also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects.
The range of sites and projects that bricklayers will work on include large commercial developments, new builds in housing, alterations, extensions and restorations. A bricklayer may work one-on-one or on larger jobs where their bricklaying group (gang) may work on a particular section of a building alongside other bricklaying gangs as well as other trades.
To start one of our apprenticeships, you must be over 16 and employed in a relevant role.
Every employer is different, and therefore entry requirements can vary. We are committed to supporting you in developing your skills, either before or during your apprenticeship.
Minimum requirements prior to starting for 16 – 18 year olds: Grade 1 in maths and 1 in English Language or English Literature. Alternatively, a Functional Skills Level 1 or equivalent in both.
19+: If evidence of achieving a Grade 1 or above in maths or English is not available, the employer will decide if Functional Skills will be a requirement at the interview stage.
