Bricklayer Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard
Course overview
Please note: This course is delivered in the workplace, and one day a week at our Blackbird Leys Technology Campus.
Bricklayers lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures eg chimney stacks. Bricklayers might also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects.
The range of sites and projects that bricklayers will work on include large commercial developments, new builds in housing, alterations, extensions and restorations. A bricklayer may work one-on-one or on larger jobs where their bricklaying group (gang) may work on a particular section of a building alongside other bricklaying gangs as well as other trades.
Whilst any entry requirements will be a matter for individual employers, typically an apprentice might be expected to have already achieved 5 GCSEs, including maths and English, Grade C or above or 4/5 (new grading).
Some employers will accept other relevant qualifications and experience, including a relevant Level 2 qualification.
On successful completion you can progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship Standard and associated trades.
