Abby teaches the basics of Pottery! She covers hand-building and throwing techniques, and with enough of these basic skills, students can take these forward, if they want, return and improve.
She also covers decoration with slip, underglazes, and glazing so that students get to walk away with usable pottery.
Like many people, Abby did some pottery classes when she was a child and dropped them when she was a teenager. Then, as an adult, she got the bug again when she attended the EXACT same course she now teaches in Oxford – a few years later! With her garage now a pottery studio, she loves teaching others to go on the same journey.
Abby loves seeing students go from zero to hero — and walking away with a mug is great! It’s all about allowing them, with some guidance, to start exploring their own imagination. But mainly, Abby’s classes are just such a fun evening, a chance to socialise, and all whilst gaining a skill. She wants you to have fun, play with clay, get to leave with a few things that you can use at home, and gain a skill!
