Ready to take your beauty therapy career further? The VTCT Skills Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Beauty Therapy is for qualified beauty therapists who want to add advanced skin treatments to their skills. Studying at our Guildford or Bracknell campus, you’ll build on your Level 3 knowledge to learn how the skin works, how it ages and how to deliver results-driven treatments safely, including microdermabrasion. Whether you want to progress in your current role, move into a skin clinic or grow your own business, this course gives you the skills and confidence to do it.

  • Health and safety – safe practice, risk management and industry standards 
  • Client care – consultations, communication and treatment planning 
  • Salon management – how to run a professional beauty business 
  • Skin science – dermatology, microbiology and how the skin ages 
  • Microdermabrasion – advanced exfoliation to resurface and refresh the skin 

  • Practical sessions using professional equipment 
  • Theory lessons to build your scientific understanding 
  • Real client consultations and treatment planning 
  • Assessment through observations, written work and assignments 

You’ll need a Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy, plus GCSE English Language and maths at grade 4 or above. 

You’ll also need to buy a kit, uniform, and stationery. 

After this course, you could move into a range of specialist roles, including: 

  • Advanced beauty therapist 
  • Aesthetic practitioner – carry out non-surgical skin treatments 
  • Skin specialist – focus on corrective, results-driven skincare 
  • Aesthetic clinic assistant – support clinical teams and client care
