Pre-Access Certificate — Health and Social Care Pathway (Online)

Course overview

The Pre-Access course is a stepping stone to the Access to HE course, and includes GCSE English or Maths. This part-time course is designed for students who want to develop their study skills and academic knowledge in preparation for progression to the Access to Higher Education Diploma.

You will gain skills in:

  • Time Management
  • Essay Writing
  • Preparing for a Career
  • Human Physiology
  • Introduction to Psychology

You will also study one 1 GCSE subject (Maths or English) as part of the course.

On successful completion, you will be awarded: Ascentis Level 2 Certificate and Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care Professions.

  • GCSE subject (weekly lesson and assignment, and daily tasks),
  • Health and Social Care Pre-Access units (1 webinar for each coursework and 1:1 supportive calls)

Assessment for Pre-Access is by coursework. Exams will take place at an Activate Learning campus for the GCSE subject.

An Online Initial Assessment (Numeracy or Literacy) is required to assess your suitability for the course.

Stable WiFi and a reliable laptop are required.

On successful completion, you will be able to progress to an Access to HE Diploma in a health-related pathway
