Digital Art Online: A Beginners Guide (for Mobile)

Course overview

Whether you are new to digital art or looking to explore new techniques then the Digital Art course Mobile Edition is perfect for you. Designed to help you create art on the go, this course will explore techniques and develop the skills required to allow you to create your own digital artwork and take your creativity to the next step, from the comfort of your own home.

Using the app: You will be introduced to Autodesk sketchbook, a free app available on the App Store and Google Play. You will develop an understanding of the tools and functions of the app and how you can use these to create digital artwork.

Digital drawing techniques: Moving on from your understanding of the tools within the app we will go on to create a simple sketch and explore drawing and shading techniques.

Digital painting techniques: In the next section you will explore how to use the app to create a digital painting. You will develop an understanding of how you can use digital paint brushes and mixing techniques to create a landscape.

You will follow along with simple step by step videos as the tutor explains the various stages for each part of this self-directed online course. Pause the video while you practice a technique and press play when you are ready to move on. Follow along at your own pace and develop your skills as you progress through the course.

You will need:

  • Access to an android or Apple mobile phone or tablet (essential)
  • Autodesk Sketchbook app (essential)
  • stylus (desirable)
  • entry level artistic skill (desirable)
  • pencils, pens and sketchbook (optional)
