A Skills Bootcamp in Cyber Security with Activate Learning enables you to learn general security concepts and applied cloud security using the Microsoft Azure platform. This cyber security course is 66 hours over 10 weeks.
Who is this programme for: This cyber security training course is suitable for anyone with an interest in information security, and a basic working knowledge of IT.
Entry requirements: Candidates should have basic working IT knowledge and an awareness of the issues involved with the security control activities. GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 4/C preferable.
This comprehensive cyber security training course spans cyber security and information security, encompassing computer fundamentals, risk assessment, security controls, and Microsoft-specific concepts. Hands-on experience is gained through labs and mock tests, ensuring practical skills.
Completion of the cyber security course equips individuals with the knowledge and expertise needed for diverse roles in the dynamic field of cyber security, making them valuable assets in safeguarding digital systems and networks. With a strong foundation and real-world experience, graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving challenges of the cyber security landscape.
This cyber security course takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9pm at Reading College. You’ll be taught via a mixture of methods. Each week during a face-to-face session, your industry expert tutor will introduce you to the fundamentals of the relevant topic, work with you through some cyber security example problems, and encourage you to discuss the core principles with your peers.
You will be expected to engage in debate and discussion throughout the following week with your peers in online forums, while extending your cyber security learning with further asynchronous learning materials provided by Microsoft Learn.

This cyber security course is free for all learners.
However, if you have been referred by your employer, they will pay between 10-30% of the course fee, with no charge to you the learner.
You will have the option to gain a BCS Foundation Certificate in Information Security Management Principles.
Your tutor will be Sajeeth Nair. Sajeeth has a wealth of experience in industry with companies such as Deloitte and Dell, and in education, as lead tutor for apprenticeships in cyber security, software development, data analytics, and ICT.
All learners will receive a copy of Information Security Management Principles (2021) by David Alexander, Amanda Finch, David Sutton, Andy Taylor, and edited by Andy Taylor.
In addition to your tutor, you will have access to a coach. Your coach will help with any issues that are affecting your study and they will also support you to gain meaningful employment at the programme, if unemployed. This will include developing a CV, creating a LinkedIn profile and interview practice.
