Hannah Scott is the CEO of business network Oxfordshire Greentech, which aims to grow and support the county’s low-carbon economy. Hannah leads the organisation in managing and engaging Oxfordshire Greentech’s members, connecting them with funding, identifying new customers, technologies and business expertise as well as facilitating innovation with events, programmes and projects. She also works with key institutions across Oxfordshire to advocate for more ambition around net zero in strategies for the county and is co-leading on a programme of support for all SMEs in Oxfordshire with OxLEP. From her previous job as a Project Manager at environmental sustainability consultancy Bioregional, Hannah has a wealth of experience in helping SMEs develop sustainability action plans across topics areas including energy, waste, food, buildings, transport and more, and has run anything from 10-week programmes to one-off workshops to help businesses get greener. She is currently working on a Department for Energy Security and Net Zero-funded project to help decarbonise Oxford’s industrial sector.
Hannah is also an edie 30 Under 30 Class of 2023 winner, an initiative that aims to spotlight and support top UK sustainability professionals aged under 30, is a public speaker, and recently co-founded the Climate Tech Supercluster which is bringing together innovation hotspots across northern Europe to encourage collaboration and accelerated investment into and deployment of climate solutions.
Akan Christopher Offong is an accomplished environmental professional with a diverse academic and employment background. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Renewables, Carbon-Capture, Utilisation and Storage from Cranfield University, Bedford, UK, Akan has garnered over 8 years of extensive experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, and strategic program development.
His passion for the sector stems from his profound interest in contributing to global efforts towards a more sustainable future. Akan firmly believes in the importance of environmental responsibility and aims to leverage his expertise to drive positive change within organisations and communities.
Akan has chosen to work in this program because of his commitment to advancing environmental sustainability and his belief in the transformative potential of education and training in achieving this goal. He hopes that this program will empower participants with the knowledge and skills needed to address environmental challenges effectively and drive meaningful progress towards a more sustainable world.
Brian is a lecturer specialising in environmental management and ecology, specialising in delivering online and face to face classes and tuition to university level students around the world. Brian currently works with Aberystwyth University and Glasgow Caledonian University where he coordinates the international tuition team delivering courses in environmental management to 2 universities in China.
Brian has degrees in Botany and Environmental Management and has worked closely with the Scottish Government to develop recycling strategies for Scottish local authorities, researching best practice for waste disposal, as well as compiling and presenting the annual recycling reports to Scottish government ministers.
Having developed and delivered online courses for the last 5 years Brian has a depth of experience in the online delivery of environmental studies and engagement of learners and brings an understanding of distance learning strategy along with an enthusiasm for the subject. He also brings over 15 years of higher education experience along with 10 years’ experience as a waste and recycling consultant to the position.
