Linda Newcombe: Illustration, Printmaking and Screenprinting Tutor

“I specialise in the areas of experimental printmaking and illustration — happy to teach adventurous beginners as well as intermediate and advanced-level practitioners.”

Linda teaches printmaking, screen printing and Illustration; twenty at degree level and over ten focusing on Adult Education.

She enjoys the variety of experiences with adults, and the willingness to try something new. She also loves witnessing part of their journey, whether it’s skills development, looking for new ideas, or image and technique experimentation.

Linda studied illustration at Central St Martin’s in the early 90s. They had a fantastic print room dedicated to illustrators, designers and photographers, so she spent most of her time in there, developing different printmaking techniques and trying to work these into her illustration. This is pretty much how she still works today.

Linda’s skills set is pretty broad, and she has a wide range of areas to draw from in her courses, including developing personal approaches, exploring new techniques and problem-solving. She enjoys enabling experimentation and discovery through mixing techniques and layering media and encourages students to develop an individual approach. Her courses are pressure-free and full of open discussion, and she is happy to teach adventurous beginners as well as intermediate and advanced-level practitioners.
