Small Scale Farming (Autumn Season)

Course overview

This course includes an Introduction to:

  • poultry /incubation
  • cows
  • waterfowl and specialist markets
  • diseases
  • pigs
  • pasture management
  • sheep
  • legislation with hands-on experience

This 10 week, part-time evening course is designed to provide potential small holders with the practical skills and husbandry knowledge associated with small scale farming activities.

The campus is attractive and easily accessible with excellent student resources all which create an enjoyable learning environment. Practical work is carried out on the extensive 280 hectare estate, with its woodlands, wetland features, livestock, grasslands etc.

There are both practical and theoretical aspects to this course, using a wide range of species.
