Seed to Success: A Guide to Seed Preparation and Propagation

Course overview

Unlock the secrets of successful plant growing by mastering the art of seed preparation and propagation. This hands-on course is designed for gardening enthusiasts, beginner growers, and those interested in developing their horticultural skills.
Whether you’re planning a home garden or managing a growing space, this course will give you the confidence and skills to start strong and grow with success.

You’ll learn how to select quality seeds, understand germination requirements, and use effective propagation techniques such as sowing, pricking out, and potting on. The course also covers seed storage, seedling care, and troubleshooting common issues, all while working in a supportive and practical environment.

This course takes a highly practical, hands-on approach to learning. Most sessions will take place in a real growing environment where you’ll actively engage in each stage of the seed preparation and propagation process.

This is a Learning for Leisure course, so there are no assessments.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, a good degree of physical fitness is necessary, as some practical tasks may be physically demanding.

We recommend that you wear sturdy footwear as you will be working on uneven ground. Steel-toe-capped boots are ideal, but any strong, supportive outdoor footwear will do.
