Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of botanical art and reconnect with nature. This inspiring 5-week painting course invites artists of all levels to explore the beauty of plants, flowers, and wildlife from the natural world through expressive brushwork and vibrant colour. 

Guided by experienced tutor, Madalyn Taylor, you’ll experiment with watercolour, soft pastels, and acrylic paint, learning how different mediums can uniquely capture the essence of botanical subjects and bring them to life. Through inventive mark-making, colour mixing, and working at different scales, you’ll develop a diverse artistic toolkit for botanical expression. 

 

This hands-on experience will take you on a journey through the rich history of floral art while developing your personal style and technical skills. You’ll explore a variety of creative approaches to capturing the delicate beauty and complex structures of plants, flowers and animals.

Each week features a fresh perspective on floral art, drawing inspiration from both historical masters and exciting contemporary artists who have made plants and flowers their signature subjects.

You’ll learn: 

  • Techniques for observing and capturing plant structures and textures 
  • Methods for mixing and applying colour to achieve lifelike or expressive effects 
  • Developing personal compositions and interpretations
  • Experimental techniques that push beyond traditional floral painting 

Group and one-to-one tuition, demonstrations and looking at images from other artists. The course will be hands on, with a bit of discussion to facilitate understanding.
