Course overview
National Saturday Club introduced a new Film and Media subject strand in 2021. Reading College is delighted that team members of Vocal Networking will deliver this exciting Saturday Club in their professionally equipped Film and Media workshops
National Film and Media Saturday Club will introduce young people aged 13 to 16 to the massive opportunities in this rapid growing sector of the UK economy for FREE. The club will introduce young people to the basics of film and media.
The combination of creative thinking and developing transferable skills is at the heart of Vocal Networking and we encourage you to bring your imagination to life.
This club is a great start of your creative journey, whether you aspire to become an actor yourself, become a videographer or want to improve your production skills, this club will open your eyes to the vast opportunities this industry offers.
As well as benefiting from inspiring classes, club members will enjoy a London Visit, attend a masterclass and exhibit their work at the Summer Show at Somerset House, London.
Dates: 7,14 Oct, 4,11,18,25 Nov, 2,9,16 Dec, 13,20,27 Jan, 3 and 24 Feb, 2,9,16,23 March
You will explore the breadth of film and screen from storyboards to film production. You will develop practical and technical skills across screenplay, story boarding, filming, editing, and lighting. You will also enhance a number of transferrable skills such as creative problem solving, production, planning and budgeting.
What can I expect?
- To provide young people the opportunity to express themselves through creativity
- To develop and explore production ideas and bring their visions to life
- To experience different creative roles such as director, actor, sound operator
- To explore performance suitable for the screen, ie floor markings, camera angles, natural and controlled acting
- Storyboard work; beginning, middle and end
- Characterisation; how to build a character
- Basic camera skills and editing techniques
- To encourage group work and skill development
You will be working in Reading college Film and Media workshops.
There are no entry requirements for this course.
Materials will be provided. Please bring a snack and other refreshments.
