Electrical Installation L3 Apprenticeship Standard

Course overview

Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments. They might work in both indoor and outdoor settings, and can work on their own proficiently, without immediate supervision, in the most efficient and economical manner.

Electrical equipment and systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment, as well as crime and fire alarm systems and renewable energy technologies.

 

 

You will understand:

  • Health, Safety and Environmental Considerations
  • Electrical Scientific Principles and Technologies
  • Design and Installation Practices and Procedures
  • Organise and Oversee the Electrical Work Environment
  • Terminate and Connect Conductors
  • Inspect, Test and Commission Electrical Systems
  • Fault Diagnosis and Rectification.
  • You will attend college 1 day per week and be working towards City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (Installation) or (Maintenance) (5357-03).
  • You will be assessed and monitored in the workplace by one of our progress coaches and you will be required to build a portfolio of evidence.
  • You will be required to record the training activities that take place at college via our electronic portfolio on a weekly basis.
  • This apprenticeship standard duration is expected to be 42 months excluding EPA – End Point Assessment.

On successful completion you will achieve:

City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification (Installation) or (Maintenance) (5357-03) and endpoint assessment which consists of theory and practical assessments and an AM2 assessment.

Progression will be into employment as a fully qualified electrician.
