“One of the most important things I have learnt throughout my art practice is to play, explore, make mistakes and not be too precious.”
Madalyn has spent just over 24 Years as an educator of Art and Design, firstly in secondary schools in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire and more recently in Higher Education.
One of the most important things she has learnt throughout her art practice is to play, explore, make mistakes and not be too precious. A break from full-time art teaching afforded her the time and space to start developing her own practice.
In June of this year, she will be taking part in Warwickshire Arts Week, and is very excited to be displaying work as part of a collaborative group at Brookside Art Shed.
Madalyn’s work is primarily based on nature, looking at flowers and plants. She enjoys recording textures, patterns and delicacy in nature through the media of print and ceramics. Her latest work explores the process of printmaking using Cyanotypes; in essence a technique which offers a unique and accessible way to create beautiful prints using a simple chemical process and sunlight.
