You will cover: 

  • Selecting appropriate fabrics for lightweight scarves 
  • Measuring, cutting and constructing a perfect triangle shape 
  • Foundation crochet stitches for beginners
  • How to add crochet trim directly to fabric edges 
  • Colour coordination between fabric and yarn 
  • Creative styling options for your completed scarf 

This workshop runs from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch break. 

There is an emphasis on hands-on, supportive learning in a relaxed environment. 

Morning session: Crochet the trim under instruction to the length needed for the scarf.

Afternoon session: Fabric preparation and cutting, pinning the trim to and then sewing it onto the scarf.

You will benefit from: 

  • Detailed demonstrations followed by guided practice 
  • Small class size (maximum 8 participants) ensuring personalised attention 
  • Troubleshooting tips and techniques throughout the day 

All specialist equipment, including sewing machines, will be provided and no prior sewing experience is required, although basic knowledge of crochet stitches would be helpful.

You will need to bring along: 

  • 1.5m of double gauze. This scarf is best made with double gauze as other fabrics are tricky to sew, with the exception of linen. 
  • One ball of lightweight yarn in a complementary colour 
  • Crochet hook according to the label of yarn 
  • Lunch and refreshments 

Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. 

After mastering the skills in this workshop, you can enrol on our Creative Sewing Adventures courses or monthly Saturday workshops to continue building your skills.
