Come and get inky with this fun 5-week course exploring the joy of printmaking!
Ink & Imprint: Discovering Printmaking Techniques is both fun and informative, allowing you to see how different processes transform the prints you create and explore printmaking by making your own prints.
Aimed at beginners, this course is also suitable for more experienced learners, allowing you to focus on experimental techniques to enhance your practice and boost your creativity.
You will gain a basic understanding of mono printing, relief printing( like lino cutting), and stencil printing, guided by expert tutor Hector Garay-Airaghi.
All basic materials and equipment are provided.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- make a monoprint and print it by hand and on a press
- make a lino block to print from
- ink up the block using rollers and print on a press
- prepare paper for printing
This course is designed to provide you with a taste of some of the main printmaking processes offered in the print workshop. It will provide you with a broad, overall view, backed up by hands-on, practical experience, allowing you to take away prints with you. You will gain an understanding of how printmaking works in a busy workshop, safely, with an introduction to the presses and the materials.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations and health and safety information. You will be invited to participate in group discussions.
All basic materials and equipment are provided.
Our printmaking workshop can get quite messy, so please wear sensible clothing and shoes.
You may wish to repeat this multi-level course in order to develop your practice or perhaps focus on one technique or process. You also might want to enrol on The Printmaker’s Journey: Developing personal printmaking projects. You’ll develop your images from personal sources and projects and discover how printmaking can have a transformative effect on your initial sketches, designs or ideas.
