Jonathan Crane

What subjects do you teach?

I teach creative writing.

How many years have you been teaching?

For the past five years, I have taught creative writing at the University of Essex, where I earned my PhD in Prose Fiction, and was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

What got you into creative writing studies?

I am a writer and academic. I have had many short stories published, and my novel We Need to Talk will be out in 2021. I also work with several charities to design and deliver writing programmes in community and prison settings. In addition, I have also been a member of the editorial board for the acclaimed literary journal, Short Fiction.

Why should someone join your classes?

I am passionate about helping people unlock their creative potential. So, if you’re a beginner who wants to know more about writing, or if you’ve been writing for a while but would like to hone your technique, then sign up for my classes.
