Festive courses: Learn a new skill with us

Whether you want to create a Christmas wreath for your home with one of our workshops, or to give away a handmade gift made by yourself – we’ll have the course for you.

Christmas is just around the corner and what better way to begin the holiday season than to take home a festive creation and learn a new skill!

Did you know that Activate Learning offers an extensive list of courses ranging from further to higher education, professional qualifications, and apprenticeships? And not only that, but we offer part-time (and sometimes Christmas-themed) leisure courses too!

Whether you want to create a Christmas wreath for your home with one of our workshops, or to give away a handmade gift made by yourself – we’ll have the course for you.

Read on and find out why you should do a festive course with us and its benefits.

Why do a festive course?

Craft is good for your mental health and wellbeing

In case you missed one of our latest blog posts – participating in arts and crafts has proven beneficial for your mental health and wellbeing.

These benefits have radically altered the way health professionals recommend medication. One example is the prescription of art therapy to patients suffering from mental health disorders, otherwise known as ‘social prescription’.

Participating in these courses promotes community, especially during a time where more people are feeling isolated. Coming together with other like-minded people might just be what you need after another few months of working from home.

On top of the benefits to your emotional and mental health, you can enjoy the new sense of achievement after taking your creation home, alongside your new skill.

Add meaning to your gifts

Creating something by yourself can allow you to specially tailor it to the receiver. Whether it’s a cross-stitch of a family home or a mosaic using their favourite colours – each  gift can be unique to who you’re giving it to.

Handmade gifts are one-of-a-kind and add that extra meaning to the creative process. It’s personable and a way of letting the receiver know that you were thinking of them. Not only will they feel touched by your thoughtfulness but that sense of achievement that you’ve created something with someone else’s interests and personality in mind is a great feeling!

Take up this opportunity to create a new Christmas tradition

Why not gift a festive course to a family or friend? – experiences as gifts can be so special after months of being socially-distant. Due to the current restrictions, getting away with our loved ones isn’t so easily done.

Instead of heading out to the shops, it’s safer for us all to stay home as much as possible. This doesn’t have to mean that you can’t then spend time with your loved ones on the run up to Christmas! Create a new tradition and take up this opportunity to spend more time with your friends and family by attending these courses together.

We also have plenty of other non-festive courses that teach you a new skill – from pottery to printmaking. Not only do these creative courses benefit your health, you can also create meaningful gifts and take up the opportunity to enjoy the festive season with those most important to you.
