Course overview
This course will help you to build your fluency and use the language with greater confidence in a relaxed environment.
Learn a language in a relaxed environment, using real-life situations through fun and engaging role-plays and lively group discussions. The tutor will supplement the course book with a range of resources (videos, games, and handouts).
You will revise and consolidate your prior knowledge of the language and continue to learn to communicate effectively in everyday situations using all four language skills: speaking, writing, listening, and reading.

Semester 1 (09/10/2024-05/02/2025) This is a part-time course for people with some basic knowledge of the language or 40 hours of previous study of the language. It will help you to build your fluency and use the language with greater confidence in a relaxed environment.
Semester 2 – (February 2025 –June 2025) You do not need to have completed Semester 1 however you will need to have 60 hours previous study of the language in an adult environment or similar. This course is also suitable for those who have studied the language at school and wish to recap
Please note: this course runs term time only.
Costs are £195 per semester.
The course will enable you to:
- expand your knowledge of a variety of aspects of the culture of the countries where the language is spoken.
- continue to gain confidence in the use of the language.
- expand on the basic understanding of the grammar and function of the language.
You will continue to cover a great variety of topics such as free time, social activities, inviting people, travelling and transport.
You will learn to talk about the weather, to explain how you feel etc.
The content of this course may vary according to the discretion of the tutor and the group’s learning pace.
Teaching methods include:
- Audio/visual stimulation
- Teacher-led, formal instruction
- Group and pair work
- Discussions
This course does not lead to a formal qualification.
Our courses are 30 weeks across 2 semesters and run term-time only.
For this course you will initially need a notebook and pens. Your tutor will let you know about textbooks and other learning materials that you may wish to utilise.
We offer further courses at pre-intermediate, intermediate, and upper Intermediate level.
All language courses run term-time only.
