Sewing Your Next Garment
Course overview
If you are ready for a little more challenge making your next garment then this course is for you. You will be guided through cutting your fabric from a commercial pattern of your choice and constructing it to a neat finished garment. You may want to try a pattern with a collar or sleeves!
This intermediate course is for people who are confident in using a sewing machine and sewing. You must know how to:
- thread a machine
- wind a bobbin
- sew a seam together with a width of 1.5cm
- be confident in backstitching the seam
If you are unable to carry out these basic tasks we advise you to complete the ‘Introduction to Sewing’ course.
You will learn:
- confidence using the sewing machine
- tips and tricks to achieve a neat finished garment
- finishing techniques
Teaching methods include:
- formal instruction
- discussion
- individual tuition
- practical demonstration
- practical experience
Furthermore, you will get the opportunity to develop your skills according to your own specific needs.
Please bring a commercial pattern of your choice, your desired fabric, matching thread, fabric scissors and a basic sewing kit.
