Printmaking: Introduction to Lino

Course overview

This course will introduce you to 1 colour lino printing. As this is a beginner’s class, it is best suited for someone who hasn’t done printmaking before or someone who would like to review and recap their skills.

You will learn how a print studio is laid out, the materials and tools needed to make a variety of prints. You will be taught how to transfer your drawing onto the lino, how to use the carving tools, how to register your prints, how to ink the lino and how to print the image in A5. Once prints are finished, they can be taken home.

This class will be held in the college. There will be a demo at the beginning of the session of the technique and lots of examples will be shown and examples of artists’ works will be discussed too. There will be continuous tutor interaction and support throughout the session. At the end of the lesson, there will be a recap of the learnings and any feedback.

You will need a pencil case with basic stationary, a sketch book, a folder to transport your artwork, an apron, ideas in the form of drawings, photographs and/or lots of inspiration and imagination.
