Pottery: Wheelthrowing for Young People (12-16)
Course overview
Try something new after school with this pottery wheel throwing course for Young People (12-16 year olds) on Saturday.
You are probably aware of the process of creating a pot on the spinning wheel, and this is your chance to have a go with our experienced and approved ceramics tutor.
You will work on a potter’s wheel and learn all the different techniques used to make a wheel thrown ceramic piece.
There are many forms of pottery including hand building with slabs and coils, and these processes are covered in our ‘Ceramics for Young People’ which runs on a Wednesday afternoon.
In a small class of up to six young people, you will learn how to wedge, knead, centre, and throw cylinder forms and more complicated shapes, with step-by-step instruction and demonstration.
No previous experience of working in clay is necessary. Basic materials will be provided. Please bring a snack and or other refreshments.
It could get messy so we suggest that you don’t wear your best clothes! However, we do provide aprons.
