Jewellery / Silversmithing: Afternoon Mixed ability

Course overview

Do you want to learn how to make jewellery? This course gives you a broad knowledge of the different materials and techniques that are used in the jewellery making process.

Students will learn how to make their own unique piece of jewellery through practical demonstrations and exciting activities.

Please note: this course does not run during the half term/end of term breaks.

 

You will learn how to design and make jewellery using specialist techniques such as:

  • sawing
  • filing
  • soldering
  • forging and texturing
  • cleaning and polishing

Intermediate and advanced students can work on their own designs, learning new skills along the way, fundamental to these.

Teaching methods include:

  • formal instruction
  • discussion
  • individual tuition
  • practical demonstration
  • practical experience

Furthermore, you will get the opportunity to develop your skills according to your own specific needs.

Some experience of jewellery and metals would be useful, but not essential, as you work at your own pace and level.

Equipment is available in our jewellery/metal workshop and specialist metals can be purchased from the tutor.

Please wear flat shoes – no open toes or high heels, as this can be a hazard in the workshop.
