Introduction to Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Systems Level 1 Award

Course overview

This qualification is for people who require the knowledge to work safely on or near electric vehicles but do not work on the vehicle’s high-voltage system. It covers safe working practices and essential knowledge of the hazards associated with electric vehicles and the precautions to follow to avoid these.

This course is available to anyone (including members of the public) that are wanting to (or required to) drive and operate electric vehicles in the future.
Organisations who are in the process of converting their fleets to electric/hybrid, or encouraging their staff to use electric vehicles may also wish to share this opportunity with their staff to provide them with the knowledge to be able to operate them safely and correctly.

This qualification has been designed to give you the knowledge required to work safely around Electric/Hybrid vehicles. It contains one mandatory unit covering:

  • the types of electric/hybrid vehicles available
  • hazards associated with motor vehicle high-energy electrical systems
  • working safely around Electric/Hybrid vehicles including charging

Completion of the qualification will give you significant core knowledge of working safely around electric/hybrid vehicles. This does not include the maintenance of electric/hybrid vehicles.

On successful completion, you will achieve: Level 1 Award in Introduction to Electric/Hybrid Vehicle High Energy Systems

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification and learners are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience, however, an interest in the subject area is advisable.

This qualification will help support progression onto qualifications that further develop your knowledge of either working safely in emergency or recovery situations – or within a technical role carrying out routine servicing and maintenance activities on electric/hybrid vehicles.

Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Hazard Management for Emergency and Recovery Personnel
