Illustration Development: Online
Are you interested in illustration? Want to explore it further?
This online six-week course will show you a range of exciting approaches, covering different aspects of general illustration. It will allow you to practice with different materials, techniques and approaches to develop illustrations from research such as places, people and things.
Each week will introduce a different aspect of illustration. Starting from drawing as a basis, you will explore different aspects of a theme which you can develop into a more personal style with help and support from the tutor.
You will be shown the developmental and finished work of illustrators, and once you are introduced to the theme there will be a practical illustration task relating to your illustration theme. You will be able to work independently with your own materials in the class time, developing and discovering ways to explore your illustration style, and share with the group. There will be opportunities for tutor and class discussion and feedback.
This is an online course, you will need a computer or other mobile device with internet connection, camera, microphone and speakers. You will also need:
- a selection of art materials for painting and drawing
- a minimum would be gouache, watercolour or acrylic paints, plus pencils, a sketchbook and a selection of clean brushes and mixing palette
- a bottle of black quink ink for one of the sessions
- other materials can be used if you have them, and good quality drawing paper/ sketch book is advisable, although the college can supply paper and a few other basic kit bits
