Exploring Handmade Illustration Techniques (not digital)
If you are new to the field of illustration and you’re looking to further develop your drawing and explore a new style. this course is for you.
Drawing Illustration will develop your confidence in handling a variety of drawing materials, including inks, charcoals, watercolours and pastels.
There are a limited number of FREE places available on this course, for those aged 19 and over (at the start of the course) and who either have a mental health condition or difficulty, are employed and earning an annual salary less than £17,004 per annum, in receipt of state benefit in your own name and unemployed or working and earning less than £338 per month (or £541 for household claims), are a single parent, or have a social or emotional difficulty.
You will be guided through the process of answering to a brief, leading towards a personal composition by the end of the course.
No particular skills are necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
Throughout the course, you will work at your own pace with the help of your tutor to learn how to generate and communicate ideas graphically.
You will also evaluate the context in order to select the most appropriate technique.
This is a practical workshop-based course.
You will explore a variety of hand-drawing techniques and will be encouraged to develop subject matter and ideas, under both group and 1:1 professional tutorials.
Teaching methods include:

Furthermore, you will get the opportunity to develop your skills according to your own specific needs.
No previous experience or qualifications are necessary.
We have lots of art materials to use in the studio, such as: watercolours, acrylics, coloured inks, pastels, soft pastels, markers, charcoal, coloured pencils, printing ink, collage materials and various types of papers.
Please feel free to bring any materials of your own you enjoy working with or would like to explore, if you want to master a specific technique.
