Course overview

Using processes of applique and embroidery, you will learn how to create your very own patterns, which can be used for garments, or decorative objects like cushion covers, blankets, and so much more! This course is suitable for beginners and improvers alike.

You will learn about Mola Arts and its origin, with the women of the Kuna tribe in the San Blas islands of Panama.

Under the guidance of expert tutor Stella Mariash you will learn:

  • How to layer fabrics to create a patterned and unique image in the Mola Art style
  • Basic embroidery skills to complete the decoration on your designs
  • Step by step stages of the process of embroidery and applique

Individual projects can also be discussed with the tutor.

This course is designed for teaching in a class environment where the tutor will provide demonstrations and constant support to learners. You will gain skills in hand stitching and will learn techniques that can be applied universally.

Course and materials are supplied, but please do feel free to bring extra materials for your project, to create something personal to you!
