Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Registration (2346) Level 3
Course overview
This electrical qualification is suitable for both self-employed and employed electricians who have worked for several years but have never gained full, formal recognition of their skills or experience.
The Experienced Worker qualification is for electricians who have been working in the industry, as a practising electrician, for at least 5 years, but have not formally completed an industry apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 NVQ qualification. This is not including time spent in full or part-time training.
You will need to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and competence to the standard of the Level 3 Electrotechnical apprenticeship.
This qualification formalises past qualifications and experience to an industry standard using a combination of on-site assessment, reflective accounts, working evidence and expert witness testimonials.
Completion of the qualification provides a gateway to the NET AM2E end point assessment which will then entitle the candidate to register with the JIB for an ECS Gold Card graded ‘Installation Electrician’.
Before enrolling for this qualification learners must follow the Skill Scan process as set out by TESP, to help them decide whether the Installation & Maintenance Electrician EWA is right for them, and whether they meet the eligibility requirements, in terms of their existing qualifications and experience.
Candidates must also hold the following to complete the qualification:
- Level 2 Electrotechnical Diploma (City & Guilds 2365-02) or similar.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Level 3 Award in Initial Verification of Electrical Installations (2391-50 or equivalent)
The above qualifications are a mandatory requirement of the experienced worker assessment and must be achieved by candidates prior to completion of the qualification.
Candidates must also be working in the commercial electrotechnical sector during the assessment process. (Domestic installations will not meet the requirements of the qualification).
With a City & Guilds Experienced Worker qualification, you have shown that you meet the Occupational Standards within the Electrotechnical industry. It can be a great launchpad for a range of careers, from inspection to installation.
It can also help you move into a role as an electrical engineer, as well as broadening your prospects with your current employer.
