Course overview
This course is designed for those people who may encounter electric/hybrid vehicles within a routine maintenance situation.
It also contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely around a vehicle that may have had damage to its high energy/electrical system. It offers an introduction to this specialised industry sector which will complement current industry qualifications and experience and enable you to continue to work safely within your role.

- Car and Commercial Vehicle Repairs
- Windscreen or Tyre Repairs
- Car Dealers
- Valet Services
- MOT Testing
- Motor Vehicle Parts and Accessories
- Emergency Services
- Roadside Recovery Operators

Courses are FREE until the end of March 2023, with funding from the Department of Education. Places are limited.
There is one mandatory unit covering:
- the types of electric/hybrid vehicles available
- hazards associated with motor vehicle high-energy electrical systems
- working safely around electric/hybrid vehicles, including charging
- how to reduce the risk of injury when encountering electric/hybrid vehicles
- how to safely transport and store electric/hybrid vehicles
Completion of the qualification will give you the core knowledge and ability to work safely around electric/hybrid vehicles.
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve the following:
Level 2 Award in Electric / Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification and learners are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience, however, an interest in the subject area is advisable.
To qualify for the free funding you must either live, or have a base or office within the boundaries or Oxfordshire or Berkshire, even if you don’t use that base or office.
Successful completion of this course will support progression onto qualifications that further develop your knowledge of either working safely in emergency or recovery situations or within a technical role carrying out routine servicing and maintenance activities on Electric/Hybrid vehicles.
You could progress to the Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
Once you have applied, you will receive an email from our Technology Faculty team. This will check that you are eligible for the free funding (you must either live, or have an employment base or office within the boundaries or Oxfordshire or Berkshire, even if you don’t use that base or office) and will confirm your place and the start details of the course.
You should not attend a course without receiving this confirmation email.
Applications received less than 3 working days before the start date of the course will be invited to attend the next course.
