Dog Grooming (Beginners)
Course overview
Welcome to the fascinating world of dog grooming. On this 10 week course you will experience practical grooming of a variety of breeds with emphasis on correct handling, bathing, drying methods, nail care, ear care, basic scissoring and clipping techniques and basic breed styling lines. All this in a working salon with emphasis on a pleasant, safe working environment, where responsible handling and customer care are vital.
The course focuses on developing the range of practical experience and skills on basic dogs including bathing, drying, scissoring and clipping. Tuition also covers basic anatomy, diseases, parasitology, first aid and a sound grounding in health & safety. This course does not cover the clipping and styling of the three main City and Guilds breeds, this course is designed purely as the first stage of dog grooming and is essential for those students who have no proven industry experience.
This course is designed for beginners or those with limited or no previous experience. This course is designed for committed grooming trainees who wish to advance their skills to a suitable level for seeking employment or self-employment within the industry.
Tuition is largely practically based and takes place in our grooming enterprise within the Campus. Supporting retail, reception areas and an attractive easily accessible campus with excellent student resources, create an enjoyable learning environment.

Full 10 day attendance is required for achievement of appropriate standard and students will be asked to discuss and commit to definite attendance in order that the college can organise appropriate resources in advance of tuition.
