Course overview
This course is a delightful blend of creativity and practical skills, perfect for anyone looking to start their sewing journey or expand their sewing repertoire. Join us for a series of engaging and hands-on sessions that will leave you with wonderful handmade items and newfound confidence in your sewing abilities!
This course is suitable for beginners who have never used a sewing machine and those looking to refresh their basic skills.
Each week will have a different focus:
Week 1: Get to know your sewing machine: threading, bobbin winding, and identifying key features
Week 2: Create your own personal coaster for your tea to be seen in style
Week 3: Dive into fabric selection and learn how to cut your fabric to size and make a fabulous fabric bowl
Week 4: Craft a beautiful tote bag with a personalised applique design
Week 5: Design and create a custom cushion cover or a bunting to your liking
Week 6: Make a chic lined zipped pencil case pouch
There will be instruction from expert tutor Marrit Young, along with student participation.

By the end of the course, you will have learnt to use an electric sewing machine and identify the features and stitches. You will also have completed a number of projects and developed your sewing skills.
