Community Wellbeing — Telling your Story Through Printmaking
Course overview
Community Wellbeing: Telling your Story Through Printmaking aims to boost confidence and improve mental and emotional wellbeing. The sessions provide a wonderful opportunity to explore creativity, learn new techniques, and enjoy the power of expressing yourself through printmaking. You’ll benefit from a supportive and inclusive environment, connecting with others who share your interests, guided by expert tutor Hector Garay
In this unique Community Wellbeing course, we will use printmaking to visualise your personal journey through life. Your artwork will then be combined in a hand-made zine or collated apollo (long concertina book).
We will explore different ways of making books and visual storytelling and experiment with the visual language of print. All levels are welcome!
The small group size ensures personalised attention and feedback. In a collaborative atmosphere, you can share your work, gain insights from others, and develop your skills.
We are offering a two-hour session on Saturday mornings from 10.30am-12.30pm and you can attend as many sessions as you wish!

Our Community Wellbeing Programme offers a series of free, government-funded courses to develop skills, knowledge, and confidence, and improve mental wellbeing for adults aged 19 and over (at the start of the course). Participation can help those managing mental health conditions that have a mild-moderate impact on their day-to-day lives. By taking part in Wellbeing Programmes, individuals will receive support in progressing their creative skills and interests to the next level as well as tools to help manage wellbeing on a daily basis. For further details and terms and conditions please view our Community Wellbeing page.
Each session is interactive and hands-on, giving you plenty of opportunities to practice and refine your skills. You will explore the following:
Expressive Printmaking Techniques: Dive into linocut, monoprinting and other experimental printmaking techniques. Learn to translate your emotions onto paper, creating beautiful prints that reflect your inner world.
Narrative Art: Telling Your Story: Your personal journey through life matters. Your tutor will guide you in weaving personal narratives into your prints.
Mindfulness and Art Connection: Immerse yourself in the present moment. Witness how art becomes a safe space to process emotions and express yourself.
