Community Wellbeing: Summer Bunting
A fun, practical and creative course, not all bunting is triangular, it can be as unique as you are, and the range of possibilities is huge!
This one-day workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to gain confidence threading up and using a sewing machine and will take home at the end of the day their own unique bunting fit for your summer gatherings or a special event.
Our Community Wellbeing programme* has been designed to include courses that will develop your skills, confidence and promoting a sense of wellbeing. Each workshop will be delivered at a gentle pace with lots of tutor support and is suitable for beginners and more experienced creatives

You will be guided through how to thread up and use a sewing machine, through practice you will develop the skills needed to construct your own bunting, embellishment and finishing techniques and by the end of the day, you will walk away with a creative item to be proud of.
On this course you will learn:
- confidence using the sewing machine
- applique techniques
- finishing techniques
There will be individual tuition and guidance, group demonstrations, practice and trouble shooting and discussion. There will be lots of bunting samples and possible ideas to inspire you and help you plan, prepare you to create your own unique bunting. You will leave with the skills to apply to other creative sewing projects.

All basic materials are supplied but you may wish to bring your own fabric scraps and fabric scissors if you have some.
The college has a range of fabrics and threads but these may not be to your liking so if you have an idea of patterns and colours you would like to use you are encouraged to bring them along with you and any embellishments you want to add such as ribbons and buttons.
Ideas for your bunting. You may have in mind creating your bunting for a room or an event or maybe make it personalised, so have colours and fabrics to suit. Or make memory bunting out of your favourite fabrics of your children’s outgrown, pre-loved garments. Bunting can be all sorts of different shapes – really the possibilities and variations are endless!
