Community Wellbeing: Mother’s Day Flower Box
Our experienced tutor will guide you to create a stunning box arrangement using a selection of seasonal flowers. At the end of this workshop, you will have a beautiful arrangement for Mum, and gain the confidence to create more flower boxes.
This is a workshop for people of all levels, no experience is necessary.
Art and creativity have a positive effect on our mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing and our Community Wellbeing programme has been designed to include courses that will develop your skills, knowledge, confidence and improve mental wellbeing.
Our Community Wellbeing programme offers a series of free*, government-funded courses for adults aged 19 and over (at the start of the course).

- The mechanics needed to make a flower box arrangement
- How to prepare your flowers for long lasting arrangements
- How to take care and make the most of your flowers when you take them home
- How to make a flower box
The course will be taught onsite at our centre in Waingels College. The techniques will be demonstrated by our friendly and experienced tutor. You will be guided all the way until you are happy with your creation.
You will need:
- an apron
- notebook and Pen
Materials will be supplied but you may wish to bring the following to make your flower box more personal:
- decorative picks
- any decorative item of your choice
- sharp flower scissors or secateurs (pruning clippers)
- a small knife
- brick floral foam
- square gift box or hat box with lid 8-10 inches wide
- 10-12 selection of seasonal flowers for example roses, carnations, lilies, lisianthus, freesia, chrysanthemums, gypsophila or wax flower
- work gloves
- floral wire
- hot glue gun
Please note that this facility is located on Waingels College campus. Access to our building is via a black security gate located directly ahead when you enter Waingels campus. Press the button which says ‘ADULT ED’ on the buzzer and our receptionist will action the gate to open. Our building is on the right-hand side and is clearly marked with the Activate Learning Logo. There is plenty of parking near the building.
This workshop includes a tea break. There is a small kitchen area with tables and chairs, where refreshments and biscuits are available (small charge to cover costs)
