Community Learning: Printmaking

Course overview

With this creative course you will be introduced to practical printmaking techniques. Once you are familiar, you can use the course to evolve your own projects.

You will be guided by Liz Lake, a practising artist and educator who studied at the Royal College of Art. Liz’s own work includes printmaking, sculpture and installation and has exhibited nationally and internationally alongside receiving commissions from Coventry Biennale and Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Cardiff University. See Liz’s personal work here and her community orientated work here.

You will explore four main printmaking methods:

  • relief printing
  • silkscreen printing
  • etching
  • monoprinting

You will learn primarily through hands-on application in the studio with demonstrations. With this and additional hand-outs, you will be able to experiment with techniques yourself.

Materials will be provided, just bring your creative curiosity!
