Community Learning – Mindful Photography
This course will allow you to build the skills you need to take better photographs, understand your camera, and express your ideas! You’ll also enjoy creating your own film and discovering how to edit your images digitally.
Connecting with like-minded individuals, you will get to share your images and exchange ideas in a welcoming environment. Participation and creativity can offer relief and increase your well-being, having a positive effect on your day-to-day life!
We’ll be offering a two-hour session on Monday evenings 7-9pm, giving you plenty of time to experiment with photography. You can attend as many of the sessions as you wish!
Our Community Learning programme offers a series of FREE, government-funded courses to develop skills, knowledge, confidence and improve mental well-being for adults aged 19 or over (at the start of the course).

You will learn a variety of exciting photography skills to make the most of any camera type, including:
Building your confidence in navigating the settings
The basics of composition, lighting, and visual storytelling
Using your camera on manual: how aperture, shutter speed and ISO work
Using natural and artificial lighting
Capturing successful portraits and landscape scenes
Visual storytelling techniques
Basic digital post-production
Image resolution and what it means
Making composite images
A professional tutor will develop your photography skills, through a series of interactive workshops that will demonstrate equipment in the studio. You will also gain techniques to use beyond the studio.
As there are limited digital cameras available, please bring your digital camera or mobile phone, and a tripod if you have one.
