This short course is largely theoretical in nature and introduces essential concepts of enrichment and training, how enrichment and training can benefit you as caregivers, and how to evaluate its effectiveness once implemented. You’ll be given the opportunity to develop transferable skills including creative thinking, application of knowledge, analysis and evaluation in the context of animal welfare.
This course explores the core concepts of animal enrichment and training tailored to exotic pets, covering:
- strategies for creating effective enrichment programmes
- techniques to enhance physical and cognitive well-being
- benefits of enrichment for both pets and caregivers
- methods for evaluating the effectiveness of training programmes
- This short course is taught over 2 days (a week apart) from 9am-5pm.
- There are 12 live guided learning hours in total (with incremental breaks) which are taught by a specialist tutor.
- This is an online course and will be taught via Microsoft Teams.
- A variety of teaching and learning strategies are employed throughout this course and will include interactive tutor-led lectures and group discussions.
- There is no summative assessment for this course. You will receive a certificate of participation and become part of our alumni community.
- You’ll leave with the confidence and skills to design engaging enrichment activities that promote your pet’s natural instincts and happiness.
There are no formal entry requirements, but you will need access to a laptop/computer device with a reliable WIFI connection. This is an online course and can be accessed remotely via Microsoft Teams.
After completing this course, you’ll receive a Certificate of Participation and become part of our alumni community. For those ready to advance their skills, we also offer an advanced course in animal enrichment and training.
