Activate Cycle Academy Junior Tech

Course overview

The ACA Junior Tech course will show you how to look after your bike, and the adjustments you can make to keep it running smoothly. You’ll look at what the parts are called, what they do, and how to keep them in good working order.

You’ll also take a look at how you can customise your bike by changing the grips and pedals.

This course is open to new mechanics aged 14 to 18 years old, who would like to become more self-sufficient when working on their own bikes at home.

During the course you will learn:

  • What the different parts of your bike are called and what they do
  • How to clean your bike
  • Which parts to lubricate, and what to use
  • How to adjust your brakes and gears
  • How to remove a tyre and fix a puncture

On successful completion of the course, candidates will receive the ACA Junior Tech certificate.

You will need to bring along your lunch and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty!

On completing this course you can progress to Cytech one, Cytech two, and the City and Guilds Level 1 Cycle Maintenance.

The course will be held at the Colin Sanders Innovation Centre in Banbury.
